This 45-minute aerial adventure, narrated by the pilot, takes you over the sparkling waters of the Caribbean to the island of Montserrat. At the heart of the 'exclusion zone', which is strictly controlled, stands the active and explosive Soufrière volcano, rising to 900 meters and overlooking the gorges and delta of the Tar River. Since its eruption in 1997, which rendered two-thirds of the island uninhabitable, you will fly over evacuated villages, the former WH Bramble airport, and the charred remains of the old capital Plymouth, partially buried under 12 meters of ash. You will be able to closely observe the smoke and steam of a very active volcano, safely from the helicopter. CalvinAir pilots also provide weekly aerial support to scientists at the Montserrat Volcanological Observatory.
